60th Anniversary of Repatriation of Koreans in Japan Marked

A meeting was held at the People's Palace of Culture in Pyongyang on the 15th to mark the 60th anniversary of the realization of repatriation of Koreans in Japan.

Present there were Vice-Chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Yong Chol, Vice-President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly Thae Hyong Chol, Vice-Premier Jon Kwang Ho, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party Pak Yong Il, officials of the working people's organizations, ministries and national agencies, officials concerned, those related to the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and working people in the city.

Also on hand were the thank-offering group of Koreans in Japan led by Kim Won Hwan, Adviser to the Central Measure Committee for National Education of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), and other compatriots in Japan staying in the socialist homeland.

Comrade Thae Hyong Chol made a report. He said:

The first repatriation ship carrying Koreans in Japan anchored in the socialist homeland on December 16, Juche 48 (1959). It was a historic event which brought about a great turn in their destiny and the strengthening and development of the movement of Koreans in Japan and a great victory of the Korean-style socialism centred on the popular masses.

The Eternal President Kim Il Sung and Eternal Chairman Kim Jong Il realized the repatriation of Koreans in Japan to the socialist homeland and thus opened a heyday of the movement of Koreans in Japan and set a world-historic example of the movement of overseas compatriots with their outstanding idea and energetic leadership. Their undying exploits will shine forever along with the history of the homeland.

The reporter called for keeping deep in the hearts the greatest fortune and glory blessed with leaders generation after generation and adding lustre to the Korean-style socialism centred on the popular masses, firmly rallied behind the respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.
