Pak Pong Ju, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the WPK, made field survey of several units in South Hamgyong Province.

Pak Pong Ju learned in detail about the typhoon damage in Yonggwang and Jangjin counties and gave a pep-talk to the working people and service personnel of the People's Army in building dwelling houses and rehabilitating roads and discussed measures to complete the rehabilitation as soon as possible.

At the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex and the February 8 Vinalon Complex, he underscored the need to unconditionally carry out the quotas for fertilizer production by giving free rein to the creative initiative and spiritual strength of the workers and technicians and to pep up production by ensuring profitability to the maximum.

At the Ryongsong Machine Complex, the Hamhung Woolen Mill, the Hamhung Catfish Farm and others he stressed the need to make a tangible contribution to economic construction and the improvement of the people's standard of living by keeping production at a high rate with scientific management and business strategy.
