Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), sent a message of greeting to Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President of the People's Republic of China (PRC), on October 1.

The message reads.

  Esteemed General Secretary,
  I, on behalf of the Workers' Party of Korea, the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the entire Korean people, extend warm congratulations to you, the Communist Party of China, the government of the People's Republic of China and the fraternal Chinese people on the occasion of the 73rd founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China.
  Over the past 73 years, the Chinese party, government and people have achieved remarkable successes in the accomplishment of the socialist cause, overcoming all sorts of challenges and trials of history.
  The Chinese government and people entered a new historic course of building a basically rich society and a modern socialist state in an all-round way under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with you at its core after the 18th Congress of the party.
  We are truly rejoiced over all successes made by the Chinese party, government and people as over our own.
  The Chinese people will greet the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China which will provide a new milestone in the socialist construction.
  I am convinced that the dream of rejuvenation of the Chinese nation will certainly be realized thanks to your leadership and the Chinese people rallied around the party.
  Our party, government and people will invariably support and encourage the Chinese party, government and people in their just struggle to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and achieve reunification.
  Today the two parties and the two countries continue to write the history of invincible friendship and solidarity, supporting and encouraging each other in the common cause for defending and honouring the socialist cause.
  I will, together with you, make strenuous efforts as ever to constantly develop in depth the traditional friendly relations between the DPRK and China and defend peace and stability of Asia and the rest of the world.
