Kim Jong Un, President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, sent a message of greeting to Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, president of the Russian Federation, on May 9.
The message reads.

I, on behalf of the government and people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, extend the warmest congratulations and greetings to you and the friendly government and people of
Russia on the occasion of the anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War in Russia.
The Russian people won a great victory in the righteous war of annihilating fascism that threatened the destiny of mankind by displaying the unparalleled heroism and self-sacrificing spirit.
The feats and exploits of the Russian people have been vividly remembered by the world people loving justice and peace and they will be told forever.
I send firm solidarity to the cause of the Russian people to fundamentally remove the political and military threat and blackmail of the hostile forces and safeguard the dignity, peace and security of the country by carrying forward the immortal tradition of victory.
I believe that the strategic and traditional friendly relations between the DPRK and Russia would be constantly strengthened and developed in conformity with the requirement of the times and the fundamental interests of the two peoples.
