A national meeting and a public procession of Pyongyang City took place with splendor at Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang on April 15, the 110th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung. Kim Jong Un, Gneral Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, attended the events. When the respected General Secretary appeared in the tribune of honor of the square amid the playing of the welcome music, all the participants raised stormy cheers of "Hurrah!" for him along with fireworks let off and balloons released. He extended warm greeting to all the people celebrating the significant Day of the Sun with high political enthusiasm and proud labor successes, warmly waving back to the loudly cheering crowds. The tribune of honor was taken by Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, first vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary for Organizational Affairs of the WPK Central Committee, and Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet. Among those at the tribune were senior officials of the Party and the government, directors and first vice-directors of departments of the WPK Central Committee, leading officials of the Cabinet, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, and officials and persons of merit who distinguished themselves in implementing the Party policies. Ri Yong Gil, Kwon Yong Jin, Rim Kwang Il and other leading officials of the armed forces organs appeared at the tribune. Present at the meeting were officials of the WPK Central Committee, officials of ministries and national institutions, service personnel of the Korean People's Army and the Public Security Forces, teaching staff and students of revolutionary schools, officials of institutions and industrial establishments and working people in Pyongyang.
Ri Il Hwan, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the WPK Central Committee, made a report "The great Comrade Kim Il Sung's undying revolutionary history will be immortal along with the victorious advance of the cause of Juche". The reporter recalled the noble revolutionary career of the President run through with the idea of believing in the people as in Heaven, saying that he dedicated himself to protecting the dignity and rights of the people and providing them with happiness, sharing his destiny with the people all his life. And the reporter noted that all the Korean people keep deeper in their hearts, despite shifts in generation, the truth that eternal victory and prosperity are in store for their country and the dignity, glory and happiness of the people are ensured, thanks to April 15, 1912, the birthday of the President. He called for vigorously advancing for the victory in the revolutionary cause of Juche pioneered by Kim Il Sung and for bringing earlier the day when the ideal of the WPK regarding the improvement of the people's well-being as the supreme principle of its activities would be perfectly realized. After the national meeting the procession began. A column of citizens holding a large flag of the Republic symbolic of their dignified state entered the square. They were full of pride and confidence of having adorned every decade of the revolution with victories and glory, adding luster to their national flag century after century. When a column of demonstrators escorting the cars carrying the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il entered the square, fireworks were let off and numberless balloons were released. Columns of workers, peasant dancers and others marched past the square, holding aloft the boards bearing such slogans as "Our socialist country built by the President!", "Legendary Chollima brought by the President!" and "Endless journey for people!". The respected General Secretary acknowledged the cheers of the dependable people who remain faithful to their Party and state with single-minded loyalty and revolutionary spirit. Such catchphrases symbolic of great history as "Independence in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliance in defence", "Chollima Korea" and "Path of Juche" were displayed on the square to represent the unshakable faith that only victory and glory are in store for the Korean people who are making a dauntless advance with firm confidence in justice and victory of their cause. Columns of youth and students, service persons' families and persons of merit and children's union members showcased their strong aspiration to fulfill their duty and mission as the descendents of the President and soldiers and disciples of the Chairman by holding the President and the Chairman in high esteem as their eternal leaders and successfully accomplishing the cause of Juche under the uplifted banner of continuous revolution. A column of demonstrators holding a large red flag bearing such catchphrases as "Powerful socialist country", "Single-hearted unity" and "Self-reliance" marched past the square to decorate the end of the procession, demonstrating the powerful spirit of the Korean people who are bringing earlier a new victory of revolution under the uplifted banner of our state-first principle, led by the respected General Secretary. The respected General Secretary warmly waved back to cheering crowds. The national meeting and the public procession of Pyongyang City fully demonstrated the revolutionary spirit and will of the Korean people to achieve the overall prosperity and development of Korean-style socialism by single-mindedly and devotedly upholding the leadership of the respected General Secretary.
