The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea called an enlarged meeting in the building of the headquarters of the Party Central Committee on July 2 to discuss and decide on the urgent work and important policy issues of the Party and the state.

Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the WPK, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, was present at the meeting.

Participating in the meeting were members and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK.

Also present there as observers were senior officials of the Party Central Committee, staff members of the Cabinet, ministries and national agencies, chairpersons of the provincial Party committees, chairpersons of the provincial people's committees, leading personnel of the armed forces organs, members of the Central Emergency Anti-Epidemic Headquarters and officials in the field of construction.

Upon the authorization of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un presided over the meeting and made an important conclusion.

As its first agenda item, the meeting summed up the six-month work for preventing the epidemic and discussed an issue to strengthen the state emergency anti-epidemic work and thus further consolidate the present anti-epidemic state.

Comrade Kim Jong Un touched on the purpose and purport of the issue of state emergency anti-epidemic work our Party discusses again at the meeting of the Political Bureau.

He made a detailed analysis of the six-month state emergency anti-epidemic work and said:

We are preventing the malignant virus from entering the precincts and keeping the stabilized anti-epidemic state even in the worldwide crisis of public health as a result of the farsighted leadership ability of the Party Central Committee and the proud success made by the highly voluntary unity of the entire people moving as one according to its orders and instructions. We should value and steadily consolidate such success in the anti-epidemic work and thus ensure and guarantee the security of the state and the good health of the people in every way.

These days, the trend of reinfection and re-spread of the malignant epidemic is lasting in our neighbouring countries and adjacent regions and the prospect of removal of the danger is uncertain. Under the situation the anti-epidemic forefront should be brought to the maximum awareness and alertness without the slightest self-complacency and slackness, and reexamine and do the anti-epidemic work more strictly.

Comrade Kim Jong Un seriously criticized the carelessness and indifference, chronic practices and emergency anti-epidemic discipline-violating practices which are gradually widespread among the officials since the emergency anti-epidemic work assumes a protracted nature, and repeatedly warned that the hasty easing of the anti-epidemic measures will incur a fatal crisis which is neither unimaginable nor irretrievable. He stressed that all the sectors and units should not ease tension, intoxicated with self-complacency in the present good anti-epidemic state, but further strengthen the emergency anti-epidemic work until the danger of the epidemic disappears completely.

The meeting heard a report on the six-month state emergency anti-epidemic work and speeches.

The report and speeches seriously analyzed and reviewed in the light of criticism the points in question revealed in the state emergency anti-epidemic work during the first half of the year, and pointed out that more detailed and exact measures should be taken to more properly do the organizational and political work for thoroughly observing the emergency anti-epidemic steps and strictly keep the emergency anti-epidemic system in coping with the worldwide damages.

As its second agenda item, the meeting discussed an issue on speeding up the construction of the Pyongyang General Hospital and taking measures to provide manpower and material and technical means for medical services.

Comrade Kim Jong Un expressed satisfaction over the construction of the Pyongyang General Hospital which is persistently promoted as planned while boldly overcoming the difficult and unfavourable conditions thanks to the extraordinary spiritual strength and devoted efforts of the builders.

He took strong state measures to rapidly solve the problems arising in completing the Pyongyang General Hospital wonderfully on the world standard so that it can give the best advanced medical services to the people, and put forward specific tasks facing the fields of construction, supply of materials and preparations for operation.

At the meeting, the draft resolutions of the first and second agenda items were considered and adopted with unanimous approval.

The meeting also considered important issues on the external affairs of the Party and other matters.
