Recently, the International Maritime Organization has been noted for unacceptable capricious behavior, causing noticeable irritation on the part of the DPRK. On May 31, the 107th session of the Maritime Security Committee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), in obedience to the hostile anti-DPRK policy of the United States and its satellites, adopted an unfair "resolution" condemning the attempt to launch the satellite as "a violation of UN Security Council resolutions" and "a threat to international maritime security". Thus, for the first time in its history, this organization approved an official document de facto condemning the peaceful exploration of space by a country that is objectionable to the United States. It is noteworthy that the DPRK has taken all possible measures on its part to prevent threats to the security of neighboring states and ships on the high seas. On May 30, she even informed the IMO about the upcoming missile launch, despite the fact that, according to the requirements of existing conventions, she was not obliged to do so. But in response to a sincere gesture of goodwill, Korea received a condemning "resolution." Moreover, judging by the latest public comments, the IMO now believes that the DPRK is obliged to notify it of its every step. Such behavior on the part of a non-political organization designed to ensure the security of the maritime space is categorically unacceptable. There is nothing surprising in the fact that the DPRK, seeing such demonstrative unfriendly steps, refused to further notify it of upcoming missile launches. The DPRK ISG expresses its full solidarity with the statement of the representative of the State Administration of Maritime Inspection of the DPRK on June 8. We believe that the IMO should come up with a clear explanation of its position, as well as reflect the fair position of the DPRK in its official documents. If the International Maritime Organization, being an organization under the UN, is not ready to take into account the will of the DPRK as a UN member state, then this organization should be renamed the "Puppet Maritime Organization." |
