Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, received a reply message from Bashar Al-Assad, president of the Syrian Arab Republic, on June 8.

The Syrian president in his message expressed thanks to Comrade Kim Jong Un for sending congratulations and best wishes to him and to the Syrian people upon his victory in the presidential election and extended gratitude to the DPRK for supporting Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The message said that the relationship between Syria and the DPRK is based on the long history of friendship and mutual understanding.

The message expressed the will to continue to develop the bilateral relations of cooperation in conformity with the interests of the two friendly peoples.
