A vigorous army-civilian joint operation is going on in the flood-stricken areas of the DPRK to finish the recovery work in the main before October 10, the birthday of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Supreme Leader Supreme Leader A meeting took place in the county seat on Aug. 15, with the attendance of county officials, employees of the county people's hospital and inhabitants of Taechong-ri. Kung Hye Yong, chairperson of the Unpha County Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), made a conveying address. Referring to the fact that the Supreme Leader took the consecutive steps of love for the residents in the flood-stricken area and sent lots of medicines again, the chairperson ardently called for turning out as one in the recovery work and sprucing up the county wonderfully, and thus greeting the 75th birthday of the WPK with proud achievements. Then followed speeches. The speakers were determined to trust and follow only the Supreme Leader under any circumstances and become the patriotic peasants in the era of the Workers' Party who defend the revolution and socialism with increased production of rice.
Comrade Kim Tok Hun Inspects North Hwanghae Province Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the Cabinet of the DPRK, inspected different counties of North Hwanghae Province to learn about their flood damage and reconstruction. Touring Taechong-ri in Unpha County, he urged officials to carry out the reconstruction on the principle of putting the interests of the people above all, true to the idea and intention of the Party Central Committee and put primary efforts into providing the flood-stricken people with a better living condition. He stressed the need for all the service personnel and builders involved in the reconstruction project to strictly abide by the anti-epidemic rules, calling for stepping up the reinforcement of embankment and floodgates on Unpha Stream and properly fixing the locations of the new dwelling houses. He also urged the relevant units to ensure timely supply of materials needed for reconstruction. Acquainting himself with the rehabilitation project in Sohung and Pongsan Counties, he urged the designing organs to design the structures in a responsible way. He took necessary measures after discussing the issues of rehabilitating the drain pumping stations immediately, improving all the waterways as planned, and putting cultivation of crops on a scientific and technical basis.
Comrade Pak Pong Ju Inspects Flood-Hit Areas in Kangwon Province Pak Pong Ju, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and vice-chairman of the C.C., WPK, inspected Kimhwa, Cholwon and Phyonggang Counties in Kangwon Province hit by flood. Learning about the situation of the flood-hit areas and their reconstruction plans, he urged officials of the Party and power organs to bear deep in mind the idea of the 16th meeting of the Political Bureau of the 7th Central Committee of the WPK, fulfill their responsibilities and duties in providing the people with a stable life and giving a complete facelift to the residential areas as desired by the people. Meeting with people in the township of Kimhwa County, he acquainted himself with their living and took necessary measures after discussing the issues arising in fixing the locations of new residential districts, supplying potable water and pushing ahead with the anti-land-sliding project. At the Paekrosan Co-operative Farm in Cholwon County, he underscored the need to put efforts into stabilizing the living of farmers and ensuring healthy growth of flood-afflicted crops. At Phyonggang County, he called for reexamining the technical condition of railway stations and fully ensuring the transport of materials needed for reconstruction.
