A celebration meeting took place under the sponsorship of the DPRK International Solidarity Group on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of Korea's liberation.

Present there were personages and members of the DPRK International Solidarity Group and its branch organizations, the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, the Institute of the Far East of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Sankt-Peterburg City Committee of the Lenin Young Communist League of the Russian Federation.

A keynote address and speeches were made at the meeting.

The Chief of the DPRK International Solidarity Group said that President Kim Il Sung set forth an original line of armed struggle and defeated the Japanese imperialists by fighting the hard-fought anti-Japanese war.

The President will be immortal in the hearts of mankind as he made a great contribution to accomplishing the Korean revolution and the cause of independence against the imperialism, the chief added.

The Chairman of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK said that the great exploits performed by the President are widely known among the Russian people, adding that the merits of the President who provided the historic root of the Russia-DPRK friendship would be handed down for a long time.

Personages of the Institute of the Far East of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Sankt-Peterburg City Committee of the Lenin Young Communist League of the Russian Federation lauded the President for liberating the country under the banner of the independence by the Korean people's own efforts.

A congratulatory message to the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un was adopted at the meeting.

Meanwhile, seminars were held in Britain and Germany on the same occasion.
