On November 30, the Friendship Club with the DPRK officially opened at the University of World Civilizations, which became the first primary cell of our organization in a higher educational institution in Russia. Alexey Igorevich Legoshin, Teacher at the Faculty of International Relations and Geopolitics, was appointed Head of the Club.

Earlier, as part of the conference “Faces of Culture: Current Issues of History and Modernity,” held on October 26 at this university, the opening of the Club was announced. Alexander Mostov, Chairman of the Coordination Committee of the DPRK International Solidarity Group, personally attended the annual All-Russian scientific conference with international participation “Faces of Culture: Current Issues of History and Modernity” and gave a speech.

The conference was attended by scientists, experts, government officials, as well as teachers and students from both this and other universities in the country. Present from the University of World Civilizations were: Maria Aleksandrovna Bulavina (Vice-Rector for Research, Professor); Shorokhova Svetlana Petrovna (Dean of the Faculty of International Relations and Geopolitics, Associate Professor); as well as Zvonareva Lola Utkirovna (Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Civilizational Journalism).

Comrade Mostov gave an inspiring speech at the plenary session and announced the creation of the Russian-Korean Friendship Club at the University of World Civilizations at the DPRK ISG. This will become the first primary cell of the International Solidarity Group in a higher educational institution in Russia. He told the assembled students about the activities of the Solidarity Group and briefly highlighted the long history of Russian-Korean relations, in which public diplomacy played not the least role.

The conference was also attended by a leading researcher at the Center for Korean Studies of the ICSA RAS and a member of the Scientific Committee of the DPRK ISG Konstantin Asmolov, who made a report on the topic “On the contours of the future world order and the problems of the current one.”

The students expressed deep interest in further participation in the club’s activities, and also sincerely thanked the Korean historian for his informative and fascinating report.

Under the leadership of Chairman Mostov, our organization will henceforth promote the creation of similar clubs in higher and professional educational institutions that are of interest in the training of promising personnel.
