On May 8, Palestinians staged a large-scale demonstration against Israeli house demolitions. About 80,000 people from all walks of life joined the protest. The protesters strongly protested against the Israeli authorities' attempts to exterminate the Palestinians, claiming that they are the owners of the land on which they live. Israeli police brutally suppressed demonstrators and injured 64 people. Prior to this on May 7, Palestinians protested around the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Israeli police fired tear gas and rubber bullets at the demonstrators. As a result, 25 Palestinians were said to have been injured. * * The military conflict between Palestine and Israel, which began with the Israeli authorities' actions to demolish houses and attack the Al-Aqsa Mosque, is escalating. Since 10 May, Israeli forces have launched hundreds of air and artillery attacks on the Gaza Strip. On May 14, the Jewish state reportedly deployed about 160 aircraft and 40 tanks to strike. The shelling destroyed multi-storey buildings, bank branches and tunnels in the Gaza Strip. Witnesses condemned the Israeli army for an air strike and a ground attack on the northern Gaza Strip in Beit Hanoun and Jabaliya, resulting in the deaths of dozens of people in those areas alone. Health authorities in Gaza said that as of May 15, some 140 citizens, including 40 children and 20 women, had been killed and about 100 injured in Israeli air strikes. Meanwhile, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Gaza retaliated by firing dozens of rockets at Israeli airfields in Tel Aviv and Ben Gurion. | |
