On May 27, an online meeting was held dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the visit of the Great Leader Kim Il Sung to the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic.
Klim Belsky, Head of the Executive Committee of the DPRK Solidarity Group (Republic of Belarus), led the meeting. Alexander Mostov, Chairman of the Coordination Committee of the DPRK ISG and Leader of our organization, personally took part in the event.
The meeting was attended by activists of the Group, including Ignat Koroban (1st Deputy), Dmitry Matveev (2nd Deputy), Dmitry Titov (Article Department) and Philip Kolosov (2nd Secretary for Ideology).
40 years ago, on May 26, 1984, the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung paid an official visit to the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic.
The purpose of the visit was to preserve and strengthen the friendly ties of cooperation and mutual assistance that have been built between the peoples of the DPRK and the Soviet Union and its republics.
Dear Comrade Kim Il Sung visited the capital of Soviet Belarus, the Hero City of Minsk, as well as the Brest Fortress.
During their stay in Minsk, the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung and the party government delegation of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea laid a wreath at the monument - an obelisk to the soldiers of the Red Army and Belarusian partisans who died in battles during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
On the same day, May 26, 1984, respected comrade Kim Il Sung visited the Minsk Tractor Plant named after Vladimir Ilyich Lenin.
The staff of Minsk Tractor Plant warmly and cordially greeted Comrade Kim Il Sung. During the visit, the guests toured the workshops of the enterprise, and also visited the exposition of the tractor-building plant, getting acquainted with its glorious labor history and achievements.
Dear Comrade Kim Il Sung left an entry in the book of honored guests and visitors, wishing the workers of the Minsk Tractor Plant named after Vladimir Ilyich Lenin new labor achievements, and also congratulated the entire team on the results achieved.
Next, members of the party and government delegation of the DPRK visited the exhibition of the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy of the BSSR, which marked the achievements of the republic during the years of Soviet power.
On the same day, the respected Comrade Kim Il Sung visited the city of Brest.
During his visit to the city of Brest, he and the party and government delegation of the DPRK visited the Brest Hero Fortress and laid a wreath at the eternal flame and honored the memory of the Red Army soldiers who defended the Soviet Motherland from Nazi aggression to the end.
Unfortunately, after the USSR was destroyed in 1991 and the restoration of capitalism began, many mutually beneficial ties between the DPRK and Belarus were lost due to the sanctions policy of the United States and satellite countries.
In conclusion, I would like to note that in April 2024, a high-ranking delegation of the Republic of Belarus visited the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on an official visit, holding negotiations to ensure the restoration of former fruitful relations between the two countries.
