Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected several units in the western area of the country.

Going round the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex, he urged its officials and workers to be awakened to their responsibility for safeguarding the arsenal of the agricultural front and produce and supply more fertilizers to the socialist countryside by striving to implement the decisions made at the Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea with the fighting spirit of self-reliance and fortitude.

At the Sinuiju Chemical Fibre Mill and the Ponghwa Chemical Factory, he stressed the need to proactively resolve scientific and technological issues arising in boosting production and hastening modernization through close cooperation with scientific research institutions, and to firmly consolidate the self-supporting foundations for developing the chemical industry by increasing the proportion of home-made equipment and boosting production with locally available raw materials.

While learning about crop growth, weeding, harvest of first-crop wheat and barley at different co-op farms of cities and counties in North Phyongan Province and the production of organic compound fertilizer factories, he recalled the idea of the plenary meeting held in June that to do farming well at present is the primary task of the Party and the state. Comrade Kim Tok Hun called for attaining this year's goal for grain production without fail by introducing scientific farming method and producing effective organic compound fertilizers.

The field consultative meetings took realistic measures for promoting the implementation of the economic tasks facing the relevant sectors and units, and discussed in detail innovative plans and methods for consolidating the production foundations of cooperative farms and improving the living standard of the agricultural workers, true to the decisions made at the Party Congress and the plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee.

Meanwhile, the premier took measures for building a new production process at the December 5 Youth Mine and ensuring supply of raw materials at the Sinuiju Streptomycin Factory.
