On May 30, as part of the Interuniversity Student Conference “International Relations in the Context of the Development of Civilizations,” organized by the University of World Civilizations, a sectional meeting was held dedicated to the 40th anniversary of President Kim Il Sung’s visit to the Soviet Union. The sectional session of the Conference was attended by honored guests: Kim Sung U (Counselor of the DPRK Embassy) and Alexander Mostov (Chairman of the DPRK ISG). The conference was attended by activists of the Friendship Club with the DPRK under our organization, students of the Faculty of International Relations and Geopolitics, as well as other Russian universities. Among the speakers were both undergraduate and graduate students and graduate students studying in various areas of training. Maria Bulavina (Vice-Rector for Research) and Svetlana Shorokhova (Dean of the Faculty of International Relations and Geopolitics) addressed the Conference participants with a welcoming speech. The Conference was moderated by Andrey Romanov (Deputy Head of the Department of World Politics and Intercivilizational Development). At the sectional meeting, 30 presentations were heard covering a wide range of issues discussed. However, most of the messages were devoted to Russia’s relations with various countries, the country’s role in resolving global and regional conflicts, and the peculiarities of Russian civilization in modern international relations. Activist Anna Zorich gave a central presentation. She spoke in detail about the history of Korean-Soviet relations and emphasized that the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, together with the Red Army, managed to liberate Korea from Japanese militarists (1945) and, with his extraordinary military leadership, managed to protect its sovereignty from US aggression during the Korean War (1950 - 1953). Her speech noted that the great Comrade Kim Il Sung, being an outstanding political genius, brilliantly built relations with the Soviet Union in accordance with the national interests of Korea, and that the current Korean-Russian relations, continued by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and Mr. Putin, have great prospects. Then Comrade Kim Sung U visited the exhibition “Russia - DPRK: History and Modernity” prepared by our primary cell. Activist Sofia Kuzmina gave a tour of the exhibition. At the end of the event, participants viewed the exhibition of original photographs “The Human Face of Korean Socialism”.
