Dear comrades and friends,
Let us send warm greetings to all of you who are making efforts to solemnly celebrate the 110th anniversary of the birth of the Eternal President Kim Il Sung and the 80th anniversary of the birth of the Eternal Chairman Kim Jong Il as a common celebration of mankind.
Soon (February 8) we will celebrate the 74th anniversary of the creation of the Korean People's Army, the regular armed forces of our people, by the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea, having built up its armed forces, carrying the banner of self-defense and peace protection more highly, made great efforts to strengthen the country's defense capability, and thereby turned the KPA into a powerful armed force and followed the path of independent development, having a reliable military guarantee.
The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, having liberated our country from Japanese colonial domination on August 15, 1945, gave priority attention to the building of regular revolutionary armed forces and, based on the rich experience of military development created in the fire of the anti-Japanese armed struggle, educated military-political cadres, and in a short time (no more than three years) proclaimed to the whole world the creation of the KPA.
After its establishment, the Korean People's Army honorably defended the sovereignty and dignity of the country from the armed attack of the coalition forces of imperialism in the 1950s. For many years, the People's Army, thwarting military threats and provocations of hostile forces at every step, reliably defended peace on the Korean Peninsula and in the region.
The whole world saw the power of the KPA, demonstrated at the military parade in honor of the 75th anniversary of the creation of the WPK and in a number of other cases. The KPA, which in the past 1950s fought with rifles against the American imperialists who had atomic bombs and won, today, under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Un, President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, has grown into a strong world-class army that has powerful self-defence forces and super-modern military equipment.
Our army is a real people's army, which not only defends our Republic with its military ability, but also undertakes, as the main forces of the revolution, to actively promote socialist economic construction, love and help the people. Thanks to such a KPA, our people are advancing with mighty steps towards the prosperity of the country.
We express our hope and confidence that all of you, who love independence, peace and justice, will solemnly celebrate on February 8 the Foundation Day of the KPA, which is glorified as a defender of justice, together with our people.
