The fourth day of the 8th Organizing Conference of the DPRK ISG has passed. On December 19, a round table was held at the University of World Civilizations (UWC) as part of the work of the Russian-Korean Friendship Club under the DPRK International Solidarity Group (DPRK ISG), on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of demise of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il.

The event was attended by comrades Kim Sung U (Adviser to the DPRK Ambassador to Russia), Alexander Mostov (Chairman of the Coordination Committee of the DPRK ISG), Maria Bulavina (Vice-Rector for Research at the UWC), Andrei Romanov (Deputy Head of the Department of World Politics and Intercivilizational Development at the UWC), Viktor Petrov (Deputy Chairman of the Coordination Committee and Director of the 1st Department of Public Diplomacy at the DPRK ISG, Chairman of the Russian Society for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK), Murodbek Yuldoshev (Ideological Leader of the Tajik Group of Solidarity with the DPRK, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth Union of the Republic of Tajikistan) and Anna Zorich (Secretary of the Russian-Korean Friendship Club at the UWC).

In her welcoming speech, Vice-Rector Bulavina spoke about the important role played by the DPRK International Solidarity Group in the creation of the Russian-Korean Friendship Club at the University of World Civilizations, and called on students to actively participate in its activities.

The participants of the meeting honored the memory of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il with a minute of silence.

Comrade Mostov spoke about the way of thinking of the great Kim Jong Il, who, from childhood studying the experience of the anti-Japanese guerrilla struggle of General Kim Il Sung, the Patriotic Liberation War (1950-1953) and post-war construction, came to the logical conclusion that only weapons can protect the gains of the socialist revolution.

— The Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il, with his Songun leadership, led the country through a "difficult march", through the most difficult years of blockade and sanctions, created a nuclear shield and a space program for Korea, and implemented a project for the mass introduction of CNC technology in industry. And today, under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the DPRK has become a powerful superpower with an independent economy and the ability to protect its sovereignty.

Comrade Romanov noted the outstanding role of the DPRK leader in upholding the sovereignty of the Republic and reviving Russian-Korean relations.

In turn, comrade Petrov stated that the current revival of the Russian-Korean alliance is a consequence of the prophetic genius of the great Kim Jong Il, who, with his historic meeting with President Putin in 2000, determined the further course of development of relations between our countries. Then he recalled the rich history of relations and cooperation between Russia and the DPRK, and also especially emphasized the importance of the recent ratification of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty.

Comrade Yuldoshev delivered a report on the role of the great Kim Jong Il in strengthening the diplomatic status of the DPRK and its defense capability.

— Comrade Kim Jong Il understood that in the conditions of a hostile environment and constant threat from imperialist powers, it was necessary to have a strong army capable of protecting the country from aggression. As a result, the DPRK became one of the most militarized countries in the world, which allowed it to maintain its independence and sovereignty.

In conclusion, activist Zorich made a substantive report and presentation dedicated to the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia and the DPRK.

After the event, the head of our organization discussed with the University leadership the prospects for cooperation in the coming year. He emphasized that he sees the UWC students as avant-garde youth and the future of Russian-Korean relations, and also noted that the DPRK Embassy and the International Solidarity Group are always grateful to the University for holding cultural and educational events that allow Russian youth to learn more about Korea.
